On May 19, Association of Business and Professional Women from Moldova developed a round table “Women’s Entrepreneurship Support by Parliament”.There have been discussed today’s and future problems and their solutions. On the one hand parliamentarian women from different fractions, and the other hand NGOs (a copy of the list is attached) attended. Valentina Buliga, deputy from Democratic Party, also member of parliamentary commission for budget, economy and finance was the moderator.
Also, Vicespeaker of Parliament RM Liliana Palihovici has been invited by association who come with a welcome speech . But due to the fact that at the same time in the meeting room of the Moldavian Parliament for the first time in Moldova there was a meeting of the Committee on Social Affairs, Health and Sustainable Development of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, she and many MPs delegated their representatives. With the opening statement was Angela Chicu. She noted that some measures have been taken in Moldova in the field of legislation, but there is no strategy or plan of action by 2020 with respect to women’s entrepreneurship. There is a law on small and medium-sized business, but there is nothing about women’s entrepreneurship. She also noted that although the platform of women entreprenership is created, but it can not exist independently, there is no funding, there is virtually no information and do not lobby the various women’s programs. She also noted that the third year association in different projects makes the lobby for pay equality between women and men in order to be ratified the Convention №156 on equality of payment (Equal Pay Day). We organized marches, flash mobs, which are supported and activly implicated by society, published brochure. And now, at the round table, these brochures were found in deputies folders.
Valentina Veveritsa, head of policy for the development of small and medium-sized enterprises of the Ministry of Economy has told about the strategic documents in the field of women’s entrepreneurship. She said that if there is a bottom, the leaders from Parlament or Gouvern do not wish to move a finger. Many good ideas stabbed on the vine. The Ministry has developed amendments to the law on small and medium entrepreneurship, which will be added to chapter on the women’s entrepreneurship.
Because,Moldova is a patriarchal state, men consider that our place is at the kitchen. There is only few parliamentarian women, few women are leaders. So, in the new action plan, we have introduced a separate section on women’s entrepreneurship.
The average age of female entrepreneurs is 45 years old. It was created a council on entrepreneurship which include 8 ministries and NGOs. We do not have programs that finance women’s entrepreneurship. We are the only state in Europe which has 3 cumulatively criteria. There is no such situation in any state.
In his speech, Yulia Yabanji talked that there is no adequate financing for the programs for women’s entrepreneurship. And she personally has repeatedly talked about it in Parliament, but nobody hears she . She also noted about statistics. She said that 52% of the population are women. female entrepreneurs are only 27% – one fourth of the population.
Representative of the the Chamber of Commerce and Industry noted that they have almost all the executive functions held by women.
