Roma people from Republic of Moldova still deal with the persecution, marginalization and social exclusion in the all spheres of public life. Their rights continue and nowadays to be often infringed, the institutional discrimination positioned their level of development at the lowest stage being on the way of disappearance or assimilation. Being people with specific features (traditions and customs) which finalized in a historical context perpetuated their cultural life. Today in Republic of Moldova live about 200.000. Roma people which represent 4% from the population of Republic of Moldova (they survived to Holocaust and other forms of genocide- for instance in the Nazi period more than 500.000 Roma people were killed). Because Republic of Moldova is the poorest country from Europe, Roma population is in the same time the most vulnerable ethnical group from economical and social point of view, being scattered and live in the whole country (most of all in the rural areas- 60% and urban-40%).
