11.03.2020 According to a new global report prepared by UNICEF, International Plan and UN Women, the world community has not made significant progress in creating living conditions for fairer and less violent girls.

Every year, 12 million girls get married in childhood, and 4 million are at risk of genital mutilation.

Between 1995 and 2016, the prevalence of overweight among girls aged 5 to 19 years increased almost twice — from 9 to 17 percent, which almost doubled today the number of overweight girls: 155 million, compared with 75 million since 1995.

Suicide is currently the second leading cause of death among adolescents between the ages of 15 and 19, the first being maternal morbidity.

The number of adolescents aged 10-19 living with HIV is 970 thousand today, compared to 740 thousand in 1995.Adolescent girls between the ages of 10 and 19 represent 3 out of 4 new HIV infections among adolescents worldwide.
