Ending Violence Against Children: Faith Communities in Action



  1. 1. INTRODUCTION: THE GNRC 5th FORUM

Every five years, Arigatou International holds a Forum of its Global Network of Religions for Children (GNRC) initiative. The 5th Forum will take place on 9, 10 and 11 May 2017 in Panama City, Panama. Four-hundred religious leaders, members of diverse faith communities, leaders of faith-based organizations, United Nations officials, and representatives of international and grassroots organizations from around the world are expected to attend the Forum. A pre-Forum bringing together 60 children will take place on 6, 7, and 8 May. The theme for the 5th Forum is: Ending Violence Against Children: Faith Communities in Action.

GNRC support all children inclusive from Moldova

The World Day of Prayer and Action for Children (World Day,2016) was celebrated by organizing workshops, round table and trainings in several schools and libraries from Moldova (Chisinau, Briceni, Edinet).

The children from 8 to 14 years old participated at these events.

The first workshop took place in the “Neciui-Levitchi Liceum”. The students from 8th form found out about World Day of Prayer and Action for Children and expressed their opinion toward violence, conflicts and words. All students draw pictures to express their attitude and proposed actions to prevent and stop cases of violence.

Information campaign for PACE

Association of Professional Women from Moldova organized in august-september round table with young people from schools (IX-XII classis). We talked and discussed about violence in school, in the street. Young people told about different example of violence.

Round table in Sombor, Serbia

On 26-28 July in Sombor City, Serbia held End Child Poverty workshoporganised by GNRC and hosted by Sombor education  center.  Were discussed the following issues:”The role of faith communities and children in aligning End Child Poverty to the sustainable  development goals; the link between child poverty and violence against children”.

Associaion of Professional Women from Moldova summed up the drawing contest

Drawing Contest "Do not steal my childhood", Edition III, took place between 1 March and 1 June. The competition brought together about 450 children from different regions of the country. Participants were of different ages, from 7 to 17 years old.
