Outcomes Moldova conference

The WfWP Moldavian National Working Conference ‘From policy to practice: developing sustainable water and health projects for Moldova’, which was held from 18-20th May in Chisinau-Moldova, was a success.
At this first national working conference of WfWP in Moldova NGO’s had the opportunity to present and develop their cases, express their opinion to the government institutes and to discuss and share experiences and knowledge with each other about water, sanitation and health.

The most important concrete outcomes of the conference are that 6 project proposals have been further developed by participants, UNDP showed interest in a project of BPW-Moldova, the organisations WiSDOM and SEAM decided to work together because of complementary elements in their projects and the European Water Partnership was very interested in the presented project of WiSDOM/SEAM. The six NGO’s that participated in the process of network building formulated a position paper and a website was build (www.conference.wisdom.md) which will be used as a communication platform for NGO’s.
A draft of recommendations of all participants will be further finalised via the website. The final recommendations will be sent to the Moldavian Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and to UNECE.
There was a lot of attention form the press: radio as well as television, newspapers and magazines paid attention to the conference.
The conference was organised by WfWP’s Moldavian members, Business Professional Women (BPW) and WiSDOM. The Soroptimists Club Chisinau, Ecotox, Black Sea Women’s Club (BSWC), Solidarity Water Europe in Moldova (SEAM) and Eco-Tiras were actively involved.
